Tatra tea TATRATEA - the original tea liqueur from the alpine snow-covered ridges of the Slovak Tatras. It combines about 27 ingredients, such as black and white tea, lemon balm, St. John's wort, cinnamon, cloves, berries, etc.
TATRATEA is produced by the modern company KARLOFF, owned by the Semanak family. It was founded in 2002 and is located in the heart of the High Tatras, in the town of Kezmarok. All products of this company are made on the basis of their own recipes and only from natural ingredients. TATRATEA is the main product of KARLOFF production.
The TATRATEA brand appeared in early 2003. The sales figures were very promising and Jan Semanek, the founder of the brand, launched a large-scale production of TATRATEA, which was marked by the first “Fruit” series, numbering six different tastes. In Europe, TATRATEA is called the "Slovak National Drink".
Originally known as Tatranský CAJ, the TATRATEA brand originated in the High Tatras. There was such a custom - the residents of the chalet in the High Tatras greeted the guests with hot herbal tea, wall-mounted on alcohol. This hot herbal tea became the basis for TATRATEA. Initially, TATRATEA was produced in the classic version, with a strength of 52 degrees. The drink instantly became popular and in the winter time the main drink in the mountain resorts of Slovakia seriously pushing the national “plum brandy”.
TATRATEA is in great demand and today not only classic TATRATEA 52% is produced, but also a whole line of these liqueurs. TATRATEA 22% appeared just a year ago, namely in 2012. It is based on white tea, with the addition of natural coconut extract and has a bright golden color. Soon TATRATEA 32% appeared - lime, lemon and black tea, TATRATEA 42% - white tea and peach, TATRATEA 52% - classic tea, TATRATEA 62% - black tea and wild berries and TATRATEA 72% - more robust version of classic TATRATEA, with quinine extract.
