In 1865, young cousins Norwegians Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn created in Portugal Trading House "Wiese & Krohn",which was engaged in the export port in Germany and the Scandinavian countries. For several years, the sales were not different scale, and in 1880 Theodore Wiese sold his business companion, while the remaining work as a commercial agent in Norway. Over time, thanks in part to its merits, sales have increased significantly, and the company entered a period of economic growth and prosperity. Dankert Krohn died in 1906 and headed "Wiese & Krohn" were just four people. Among them were the widow and daughter of the deceased, as well as employees of the company - Accounting Gomez Figueiredo and British manager Edmund Ernsbi. Thanks to their joint efforts the company has significantly expanded its business and entered the market in Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
In 1921, the company is undergoing serious changes. Gomes Figueiredo resigned, and Edmund Ernsbi, redeem all shares of the company took in partners brother Frederick, who by that time was known as an experienced professional taster port. At the same time, since 1910 in the company's export manager positions worked Edmundo Carneiro Falcao, who after his death in 1933, Edmund Ernsbi and retirement Ernsbi Frederick, acquired all the shares of the company and became its sovereign owner. Since 1935 "Wiese & Krohn" becomes only Portuguese company, although retained in its title the Norwegian names of the founders.
Currently, the House is controlled brother and sister Yolanda and Jose Carneiro - the third generation of the family Falcao Carneiro. The company owns the estate of Quinta do Retiro Novo, which is located in the prestigious area of the Douro Valley Rio Torto. Port wines from this region are known for their excellent quality. The company also owns six wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, and one in the basement of the Douro Valley, they kept more than five million liters of excellent Portuguese port. "Wiese & Krohn" traditionally cooperates only with reliable suppliers of the wines which are even gorgeous vintage varieties of the drink.
