Umani Ronchi Vellodoro Pecorino Terre di Chieti IGT

  • Country: Italy
  • Type: dry
  • Capacity: 0,75l
  • Classification: IGT
  • Color: white
  • Grape Variety: Pecorino
Region: Abruzzo, Monti Pagano.

Grape varieties: Pecorino 100%.

Characteristic: The name of Pecorino grape variety, also known as “grape of the sheep”, derives from the strong connection between sheep farming and agriculture, and the presence of this grape variety in the areas of shepherds’ transhumance. In the past this grape variety, thanks to its high aromas concentration, its good alcohol content, and even more thanks to its wonderful acidity which is the most distinctive characteristic of Pecorino, was used to improve the quality of wines produced with other varieties. Pecorino growing had almost disappeared because of its very low productivity, and varieties which were quality wise of a lower level, but which had a higher productivity, had been preferred to Pecorino. Our Pecorino Project started in 2005 and represents the new Umani Ronchi front in its discovery and exploitation of Adriatic native varieties, as well as a strengthening of our position in Abruzzi region.

Food Pairing: Ideal with fish dishes, fresh cheeses, pasta, and legume soups.

Serving temperature: 10‐12°C.

Umani Ronchi Cumaro Conero Riserva DOCG

  • Country: Italy
  • Type: dry
  • Capacity: 0,75l
  • Classification: DOC
  • Color: red
  • Grape Variety: Montepulciano
Region: Marche, Conero.

Grape varieties: Montepulciano 100%.

Characteristic: Cùmaro is one of the most important wines in the story of Umani Ronchi, and it can also be numbered among the founder members of the family of fine wines from the Conero area. It was created in the mid eighties to celebrate the Montepulciano variety of vine, and an area close to the sea with highly calcareous soils, using methods based on very strict selection of grapes in the vineyard and what were, at least for then, modern techniques of vinification and ageing. The name Cùmaro is a tribute to Mount Conero, komaros in Greek, which means ‘arbutus’: an ever‐green shrub which grows freely in its woodlands. Since 2004 the wine has been entitled to the appellation DOCG (Guaranteed and Controlled Denomination of Origin) Conero Riserva.

Umani Ronchi Pelago Marche Rosso IGT

  • Country: Italy
  • Type: dry
  • Capacity: 0,75l
  • Classification: IGT
  • Color: red
  • Grape Variety: Cabernet-Sauvignon • Merlot • Montepulciano
Region: Marche, Conero.

Grape varieties: Montepulciano 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Merlot 10%.

Characteristic: Pelago joined the list of the most sought‐after Italian wines in the world in 1997, with its first year of production, when it won the Best Red Wine trophy at the International Wine Challenge in London. Pelago is the result of the insight of our technical group, who had the idea of mating Montepulciano with Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine which retains the style and personality of the indigenous grapes while broadening its aromatic profile and complexity by adding qualities of the Bordeaux style of wine. To maintain a high standard of quality, we chose to produce it only in those years which provided grapes suitable for a fine wine. The name Pelago, deriving from pelagos, meaning ‘sea’ in ancient Greek, suggests its marine character and the special qualities of taste and aroma which are typical of wines produced near the coast.

Food Pairing: A perfect match for red meat, game‐birds and mature cheese.

Serving temperature: 18‐20°C.

Alcohol: 14%.
