A historical winery founded in 1953, in the last years Cantina della Vernaccia of Oristano has started an important qualitative growth path that has made it a point of reference in the region.
Significant investments and an important restructuring plan represent the foundation for further development made by a natural and intentional generational change of management and staff of the winery, the heart of production, where our enologist can benefit from the consultancy by an external winemaker.
The great respect and the evaluation of the Sardinian enological tradition join the innovation of the most recent technologies to produce wines of great quality, expressions of a unique terroir.
With regards to the vineyard, Cantina la Vernaccia can count on a management control and an assignment of the wine grapes by more than its 50 selected associates, an essential and fundamental condition to produce high quality wines.
In the last years, we have already collected the initial results in terms of growth, distribution all over the world, customer approval and rewards from some of the major wine guidebooks and opinion leaders.
Among them there is “Tre Bicchieri” of Gambero Rosso (given to Juighissa – Vernaccia di Oristano DOC 2008, expression of the “traditional” Vernaccia) that has enabled us, with the Guidebook 2018 edition, to enter into the restricted ‘club’ of Sardinian companies with the highest rewards by the Gambero Rosso.
In 2017, Vinitaly (5 Star Wines Guidebook) was a source of great satisfaction with 3 of our wines in the guidebook and a score of at least 90 points: Maimone (Cannonau di Sardegna DOC) and Is Arutas (Vermentino di Sardegna DOC) with 90 points and Juighissa with 95 points (the highest score given to a white wine).
Finally, great satisfaction also for our Maimone Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2016 with a Gold Medal at the prestigious International Contest Grenache du Monde 2018.
From the point of view of communication and public image of the Winery a new logo was recently born. Through the symbol of the Giudicato di Arbaree, the eradicated tree, that represents the link between the territory and its historical and cultural roots.
The new logo and the new wines’ graphic design reinforce the historical identity of the Winery and, at the same time, update the packaging, giving it more elegance.
A complete portfolio with wines made from Vermentino, Cannonau and Monica grapes, and wines from local vineyards only found in the area of Oristano. Examples are Terresinis (Vernaccia/Vermentino, white vintage wine, “modern” expression of Vernaccia) and the Montiprama (made from red wine grapes Nieddera, one of the oldest Sardinian grape) that allow us to best satisfy all the needs of the most demanding customer both with the most known and representative grapes in Sardinia and with the high quality varieties of Oristano terroir.
