A secret of creation de - alcoholised wines is in the union of traditional winemaking procedures, including grape harvesting, extraction of must and alcoholic fermentation, and a unique ethanol extraction procedure that directly turns the wine into non-alcoholic (no more than 0.5% vol., as in freshly squeezed juices), while maintaining full bouquet of taste, aroma of the drink and significantly increasing its beneficial properties.
Exactly this complex technical process is called “de - alcoholisation”, which is completely based on natural procedures for influencing the natural product, which makes the wine “Appalina” absolutely unique, eliminating the similarity with simple grape juice. This is explained by the fact that only alcohol is extracted, and all other components of the wine mostly do not change their properties. In terms of alcoholic potential, beverages of this category approach zero, while de - alcoholised wine has an advantage over recovery even as compared to traditional beverages of winemakers.
Today, de-alcoholised wines are a novelty for the wine-making market in Ukraine, so we took it upon ourselves to destroy several myths about de - alcoholised wine:
Myth number 1: de - alcoholised wines have a taste of grape juice!
Perhaps that’s true for some de - alcoholised wines, but the winery of our partners Les Grandes Chais de France, whose Appalina wines are represented in the assortment of Ukrimport, uses the best modern production methods for removing alcohol from wine, resulting in getting a better product. Using the patented method, they can extract alcohol from the wine, leaving untouched all the natural and healthy ingredients, the richness of bouquet and, most importantly, a taste.
The study involved 67 men who had a high cardiovascular risk (they had diabetes or ≥3 other risk factors leading to the development of various cardiovascular diseases). Observation on average lasted 1 year. All participants received 4 ounces (30 grams of alcohol) of red wine at the beginning of a 4-week ration, and then the same dose of de-alcoholised red wine during the same period, and then 3 ounces (30 grams of alcohol) of gin. It should be noted concentration of phenols was constant in red wine regardless of presence or absence of ethanol. Phase with ethanol containing red wine was marked by a very slight decrease in a blood pressure of the patients. In those 4 months when patients consumed gin, no changes in blood pressure were observed. But the study phase, when participants were given daily 300 ml of de - alcoholised red wine, was marked by a significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure by an average of 2 mm of mercury column and systolic - an average of 6 mm of mercury column. This potentially contributes to reducing by 20% a risk of stroke and by 14% - a risk of developing various cardiovascular diseases!
For the authors of the research, connection of the obtained results with the fact that the active substances contained in red wine cause an increased synthesis of endogenous NO is obvious. As a result, smooth muscles of the vascular wall relax and blood pressure decreases. But in the presence of an alcohol component, the severity of the properties of bioflavonoids decreases, although it does not completely disappear.
This study gives every reason to assert that the daily use of de - alcoholised red wine has the most beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system as the prevention of arterial hypertension.
