In Kyiv, at the atmospheric BEEF meat&wine restaurant, a professional tasting of new wines from the Piemonte region took place, attended by sommeliers from the city’s leading restaurants. The event was hosted by the renowned Kyiv sommelier Oleksii Durov, while the winemakers joined via Zoom, sharing insights into their winery philosophies, terroir characteristics, and production specifics.
This time, guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with two remarkable representatives of Piemonte — Diego Conterno and Villa Pani. Both wineries were showcased in Ukraine for the first time in such a professional format, making the tasting an important step in introducing Ukrainian sommeliers to new regional offerings.
The wines presented included:
Diego Conterno: Langhe Nascetta, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barolo Del Comune di Monforte d’Alba, Barolo Le Coste di Monforte.
Villa Pani: Gavi DOCG, Barbera Piemonte DOC, Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG, Barbera Appassimento Piemonte DOC, Barbaresco DOCG, Barolo DOCG.
Each wine was presented with commentary on its style, vintages, and winemaking specifics. Participants had the chance to evaluate both classic expressions of Nebbiolo and Barbera, as well as more contemporary and innovative interpretations.
The meeting took place in a warm, professional atmosphere. Thanks to the work of sommelier Oleksii Durov and the active participation of the wineries’ representatives, the event turned into a meaningful dialogue between producers and Ukrainian experts. Participants highlighted the depth of Diego Conterno wines, the authenticity of each Barolo, and the balanced, modern character of the Villa Pani range.
This professional tasting became an important step in presenting new wines to the Ukrainian market. We thank all sommeliers for their participation, engaging discussions, and genuine interest in the wines of Piemonte. More events, new releases, and collaboration opportunities lie ahead.
