Chiarli 1860 is the oldest winery in Emilia-Romagna and the first producer to officially launch the commercial production of Lambrusco.
In 1860, innkeeper Fernando (Cleto) Chiarli from Modena decided to bottle and sell wine of his own production. This step gave birth to a legend: Chiarli became the first to introduce Lambrusco to the wider public and soon gained recognition beyond Italy. For more than 160 years, the Chiarli family has carried on the legacy of their ancestors, remaining faithful to the traditions of the region.
Today, Chiarli 1860 is a large wine group with a modern production base. Within the company’s structure: PR.I.V.I. S.r.l. (Produzione Imbottigliamento Vini Italiani) — the legal entity responsible for production and bottling, under which Signoria dei Duchi represents approachable and popular wines aimed at export.
Chiarli 1860 carefully combines tradition and innovation:
- respect for the terroir and the native grape varieties of Emilia-Romagna (Lambrusco di Sorbara, Grasparossa, Salamino);
- a commitment to making wine accessible and friendly, truly “a wine for everyone”;
- focus on quality and modern vinification methods.
Key features of the wines:
- Distinct freshness and fruitiness, light and vibrant style.
- Low alcohol content (7.5–11%), highlighting their versatility.
- Excellent food-friendliness: Chiarli wines pair perfectly with pizza, pasta, antipasti, and grilled dishes.
- In the premium range, the Charmat lungo method is used, adding depth and complexity.
Chiarli 1860 represents the harmony of tradition and modernity — the story of how a family estate became a symbol of Lambrusco, preserving its roots and a love for wine that brings people together.
